Introduction
MealPilot (“we”, “us”, the “App”) is a nutrition, fitness and habit-tracking app available on the web, iOS and Android. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account and using MealPilot, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, display name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Profile & goals: gender, date of birth, height, current and target weight, activity level and goal — used to calculate your calorie and macro targets.
- Health & fitness data you log: food entries and their nutrition, water, steps, sleep, weight history, body measurements and progress photos.
- Engagement data: points, streaks and badges derived from your daily logging.
- Device & usage data: your timezone (to show the correct “today” and send reminders at the right local time) and basic technical information needed to run the service.
- Notifications: reminder times you set, and — on the web — a browser push subscription so we can deliver reminders you enable.
- Support requests: if you contact us through the in-app help assistant, the name, email and message you provide.
Camera, photos, microphone & voice
- Camera is used to scan food barcodes and to take progress photos — only when you choose to.
- Photo library is accessed only if you pick or save a progress photo.
- Microphone & speech recognition are used only for voice food search. When you tap the microphone, your speech is transcribed to text by your device’s / browser’s built-in speech-recognition service (Apple, Google or your browser vendor). We do not record or store audio.
Biometric unlock (Face ID / fingerprint)
If you enable the app lock, authentication is performed entirely by your device’s operating system. Your fingerprint or face data never leaves your device and is never accessed, transmitted or stored by MealPilot.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service — logging, calorie/macro targets, charts and progress.
- To calculate points, streaks and your position on the leaderboard.
- To send the reminders you set, at your chosen times.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the app.
Information visible to other users
The leaderboard shows your display name and total points to other MealPilot users. It does not reveal your email, food, weight, measurements or photos. If you prefer not to appear, you can use a non-identifying display name.
Sharing & third parties
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use third-party advertising. We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the app, for example:
- our hosting and database provider (to store your account and data);
- the operating-system push services (Apple, Google, Mozilla and browser vendors) to deliver notifications you enable;
- the device/browser speech services described above for voice search.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children’s privacy
MealPilot is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.
Not medical advice
MealPilot is a tracking and lifestyle tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Consult a qualified professional before making significant changes to your diet or exercise.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and goals, or delete your account, at any time in Settings.
- Turn notifications and reminders on or off whenever you like.
- Grant or revoke camera, photo, microphone and biometric permissions in your device settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
